Prior to the lockdown being announced, Cilla offered her three self-contained self-catering rooms as isolation units for people who had been overseas and need to self-isolate.They had one couple stay at Anchor’s Rest for two weeks as they had been overseas and they wanted to self-isolate before going back to their family.
After the lockdown was imposed, the guest house was closed as per government regulations and was now standing empty. So Cilla signed up with Ubuntu Beds which is a local initiative that aims to unite hospitality businesses that now stand empty, with the healthcare workers who are working tirelessly to combat the virus in our country.
Cilla felt it was necessary to give back to the community and especially the health care workers who are putting their lives at risk every day to protect others. She wanted to provide a safe harbour to the doctors, nurses and health care workers who are fighting the virus on the front lines.
In the spirit of Ubuntu, she can offer free accommodation to our tired healthcare workers so that they don’t need to travel long distances to get home to their families. These healthcare workers don’t want to place their families at risk, so this way she can help contribute towards protecting our courageous and hardworking healthcare workers and their families.
