High-Functioning, High-Stress: Why Successful Women Still Feel Exhausted

Umhlanga Woman Achievers June 2026

Our speaker, Michaela de Gier, is a Learning & Development Educator who makes brain science practical, accessible, and life-changing.

With decades of experience in movement-based neurodevelopment and neuroscience-informed education, she helps children and adults understand how the brain and body work together to shape learning, behaviour, and confidence.

Her approach is simple: when you work with the brain instead of against it, learning becomes calmer, lighter, and more effective.

Known for turning complex neuroscience into clear, real-world strategies, Michaela equips educators, parents, and professionals with tools they can use immediately.

She specialises in uncovering and addressing hidden barriers to learning—especially those rooted in the nervous system—using a drug-free, bottom-up approach that leverages neuroplasticity, movement, and sensory integration. Through tools like Primitive Reflex Assessments and personalised strategies, she helps strengthen the connection between the senses, brain, and body to support clearer thinking, stronger memory, and greater confidence.

Today, Michaela shares how understanding the brain—particularly how memory and learning truly work—can transform the way we learn, adapt, and thrive.

Umhlanga Woman Achievers June 2026

For June, Umhlanga Women Achievers proudly supports Ray of Hope, Imisebe Yelanga Babies Home, a transition home for babies and toddlers in need of care, love, and stability.

Ray of Hope provides a nurturing, family-like environment for abused, abandoned, neglected, and HIV-positive babies and toddlers (up to 36 months) as they await permanent placement into loving homes.

When needed, they continue to care for children beyond this age and support their early development through access to local crèches and pre-schools. Above all, Ray of Hope ensures that each child knows they are special, loved, and significant.
